Old Age Home
Numerous older people experience abuse and violence in their homes, as well as in institutions and long-term care facilities, according to a growing body of research. Many people are also denied the freedom to decide what happens with their own money, property, and health. Social security, access to healthcare and useful resources, employment, access to food, and housing are frequently denied to them.
Most governments view the issue of aging as one of social welfare or economic progress. This restricts older people to being charitable recipients rather than people who should be able to exercise their rights equally with everyone else. A paradigm shift from a social welfare to a rights-based one is required.
